HOW IS AN ESTATE SALE DIFFERENT FROM A TAG SALE?
During an estate sale we typically sell an entire home's worth of contents. Our sales are hosted for multiple days and attract hundreds of buyers. One of the biggest differences between our estate sales and a yard sale is that we professionally stage, value, photograph and advertise all items so your home is essentially turned into a temporary store front.
IS DIX & DOHERTY INSURED?
All of our estate sales are insured through Lloyds of London and we require that our home owners have current liability insurance for their protection. We are an A rated business with the Better Business Bureau.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?
We work on a commission basis; our commission percentage varies, depending on the size and estimated value of the sale.
DO I PAY UPFRONT FOR YOUR SERVICES?
No, all of our estate sales are conducted on a commission basis so our payment is taken out at the completion of your sale.
CAN I LIVE IN THE HOME WHILE THE SALE IS ORGANIZED?
Most estate sales do not accommodate the owner living on premises. Because we utilize most surfaces within the home and have a crew organizing the sale up to two weeks prior, the conditions are typically not conducive to someone living within the home.
WHAT AREAS DOES DIX & DOHERTY SERVICE?
We currently serve Westchester County, New York and Fairfield County, Connecticut but large estates in other areas may be considered.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO ARRANGE A SALE?
Most of our estate sales are booked two to three months in advance but we can arrange your estate sale in as little as seven days, depending on our schedule and staff availability.
HOW DO YOU GET BUYERS TO MY SALE?
We do more advertising than any other company in the tri-state area. Our estate sales are listed on over thirty websites, throughout social media, in newspaper advertisements, supplied to our large network of estate sale buyers and professional contacts, distributed strategically via flyers, featured on our website as well as through professional videos we create on YouTube for buyers to preview. In addition, we provide signage at major intersections and highways directing drivers and passers-by to our estate sales.
